Longtime contributor Jay Carpenter thought the upcoming Internet Archive‘s Decentralized Web Summit would be an interesting take off point this week. We’ll talk to Jay about his thoughts, starting here:

“This is a gathering of the people that invented the Internet and the people that are inventing what will be next after the Internet.
All of us are probably somewhat concerned about the centralization, control and concentration that has developed on a construct that started as decentralized.  DWS is a community of folks committed to re-inventing and decentralizing our networks and social constructs.
Here’s an excerpt from

“The Internet Archive‘s Decentralized Web Summit is dedicated to creating the web we want [and the web we deserve]. We are convening those who want to build a web that…

Remembers. Forgets. That’s safe. That cares about people. That’s a marketplace. That’s a public square. That learns. That’s magical. That’s fun. A web with many winners. A web that’s locked open for good.”

Jay has an extensive background in technology, entrepreneurship and finance.  He is a graduate of Arizona State University with an undergraduate degree in business with emphasis in finance.  He obtained an MBA from the University of Southern California with an emphasis in finance.
